Scope of this page

This page covers material that CruxPack publishes — the sample pack shown to visitors. It does not cover files uploaded by users: those stay the uploader’s own material and are not republished by us. The sample pack also carries its own attribution notice inside the pack itself; this page is the site-level record of the same credit.

OpenStax — Anatomy and Physiology (1st edition)

The cardiac physiology sample pack is built from chapters of this book. Access the original for free at openstax.org.

Changes made: the source chapters were condensed and reorganised into study material — section notes, flashcards, practice problems and a cheat sheet — and figures were cropped from the original pages. Wording, ordering and emphasis are ours, not the book’s. Any error in the pack is ours, not OpenStax’s.

The 1st edition specifically: later editions of this title are released under a different Creative Commons licence, and the two are not interchangeable.

OpenStax and Rice University do not endorse CruxPack, and nothing here should be read as suggesting otherwise.

Advertising in the sample pack’s source pages

The sample pack was built from a redistributed copy of those chapters rather than from OpenStax’s own files, and that copy carries two things we did not introduce. We are naming them here rather than quietly editing the pages, because the whole point of showing you a source page is that it is the actual page a claim came from.

Third-party advertising. All 20 pages of the “19.2 Cardiac Muscle and Electrical Activity” file — pages 1–20 of the pack’s 45 source pages — carry a banner reading “The study tools you need. 100% FREE! Highlight, take notes, and make your own study guides. It’s all free.” On some it is a full-page overlay that dims the chapter text behind it, and one page carries the banner and no chapter text at all. The advertiser is not named anywhere in the file, so we cannot tell you whose it is. It is not ours, we are paid nothing for it, and OpenStax is not affiliated with it. The other two chapter files carry no advertising.

A missing credit line. None of the three files carries OpenStax’s own attribution anywhere on the page. The credit above is that attribution, supplied by us.

Removing the advertising would mean altering someone else’s page and then presenting the result as the original, which is a worse answer than saying what is on it. Re-sourcing the pack from OpenStax’s own files is the real fix and is not done yet.
